Health care reform is around the corner

Help make sure everyone is included

Congress is closer than ever to passing health care reform with a public option. But it could include a provision to let individual states "opt-out" from the program.

If the fight around stimulus dollars is any lesson, we might see right-wing governors or legislatures — many of them from states with large poor and Black populations — refuse to participate, just to score political points.

Join us in telling Congress and the White House that we need health care reform that gives everyone access to affordable health care, regardless of the state in which they live.

Here is the text of the message we'll deliver to Congressional leaders and President Obama on your behalf. You can also add a personal comment in the box provided to the left.

Dear President Obama, Majority Leader Reid, and Speaker Pelosi,

Health care reform needs to include a true public option—one that will be accessible to all who qualify, regardless of the state in which they live.

Recent history has shown that some in government will deny their own people needed federal assistance for political reasons. Please don't let that happen with health care.

Sincerely,
